HASTELLOY C-2000 alloy
HASTELLOY® C-2000 alloy adds a new dimension to the well-known HASTELLOY® C family, Ni-Cr-Mo alloys. Outstanding resistance to oxidizing media is combined with superior resistance to reducing media. For critical and demanding applications in the chemical process industry, this versatile corrosion resistance of C-2000 alloy represents a true breakthrough.
The corrosion-resistant C-2000 alloy (UNS N06200) in brief:
- Nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy
- Addition of copper for better resistance to sulfuric acid
- High chromium content for resistance to oxidizing chemicals, iron ions and dissolved oxygen
- Good weldability
- This copper-containing one has exceptional resistance to sulfuric acid. This deliberate copper addition is unique among nickel-chromium-molybdenum materials. Hastelloy C2000 is mainly used in heat exchangers, reactors and other devices in the chemical industry.

Previous attempts to increase the applicability in wide-ranging environments were not successful. A high chromium content is required for application in oxidizing media. These are media in which, for example, iron(III) ions, copper(II) ions or oxygen are dissolved. Reducing media, such as dilute hydrochloric or sulfuric acid, however, require high molybdenum and tungsten contents. Due to metallurgical limitations, both requirements cannot be met simultaneously. HASTELLOY C-2000 combines a high chromium content with an amount of molybdenum and a balanced amount of copper just enough to achieve outstanding resistance to reducing media and ensure metallurgical stability. Compared to C-276 alloy, the most widely used alloy in the industry, C-2000 offers higher resistance to pitting and crevice corrosion. The machining, welding and deformation properties of C-2000 alloy are consistent with those of the Ni-Cr-Mo alloys.

Hastelloy C-2000 alloy is available in: Plate, rod and welding material in standard dimensions. Different dimensions, pipe, fittings, flanges, forgings and fasteners on request. Merrem & la Porte also offers cutting, sawing and plasma, waterjet or laser cutting capabilities.
